The Look In His Eyes (Jasmine & Zack, #1) Page 8
‘Hey,’ Zack came to her side. ‘Are you okay?’
‘I’ll be fine.’ She sniffed.
‘Hey, I’ll go and say goodbye then we can go home.’
She nodded and watched him re -enter the hospital. It took him a while but finally he was back by her side, ferrying her to the car. She sat in the seat and felt a little numb, what had her life become.
‘Honey,’ he started. ‘I didn’t bring you here to upset you.’
‘I know it’s not you it’s me.’
‘What happened? What happened to you and made you this way?’
She turned and looked him in the eye.
‘Because I’ll tell you what happened to us. My father was an animal and he would beat me left right and centre and abuse Claire. Our mother was a drunk without a clue about what happened from day to day. The abuse was so bad that my sister would spend ours in the bathroom trying to clean herself, perfect herself so that he wouldn’t hurt her anymore. Finally the animal was thrown in prison and we were left with my mother. I did the best I could to hide her illness from social workers. I didn’t want them taking Claire away.’ His eyes drifted away for a moment. ‘I would hide the bottles, freshen the house and try and sober her up before the visits. But one day when I got home from school, Claire was lying in a pool of blood, her wrists slit. If I’d been ten minutes later she would’ve bled to death. You wouldn’t guess where my mother was at that stage!’
Jasmine swallowed back hard and the words he’d spoke earlier about how her life wasn’t as bad as she thought all made sense now. To never wish to be someone else because she had no idea how bad the other person had it.
‘She was passed out on the living room floor. That was the day my sister was taken away from me. I had just turned eighteen and had managed to secure a place at university. I worked so hard, a promise I made to Claire that I would get her out of the institution and make a life for her. Unfortunately her condition is so severe they don’t see that happening.’
‘Oh my god, I’m so sorry.’ Jasmine didn’t know what to say.
‘Don’t be, I’ve worked through it and my sister is in the best care, that unfortunately is her fate. But you sweetie, you have a chance to be amazing. You’ve held it together for so long, I can tell. I can see you’ve never had the chance to talk to someone about it. What happened?’ He drew closer and this time she didn’t move but let him touch her face.
Jasmine broke down and talked about how she’d been humiliated throughout her high school life but now she felt it was so insignificant.
‘Don’t ever think that. How a person deals with trauma is different from person to person. What you feel right now, what you’re going through is all that matters.’
‘Your sister’s symptoms are a severe version of mine aren’t they?’
‘Yes, I’d say that but I’m not a doctor, I can’t diagnose you. My sister suffers from OCD but like you said hers is more severe.’
‘Do you think I should see someone about it?’ she asked.
‘Honey, I can’t tell you what to do, you must do what feels right for you. Just know that I’m here for you whatever you decide.’
The drive home was one done in deep thought. It all made sense now why Zack had been the way he’d been, how he’d seemed to understand her. But now there was the burning question about what she was going to do about it? Was she bold enough to move forward? Seek help and be a whole person and feel better or would she continue the way she had been.
Zack looked at her briefly, deep in his own thoughts. He wished life for his sister could’ve been different, that they had had a different life. But he knew that wasn’t possible but he also knew that he had a future with an amazing woman was possible and she sat right besides him.
‘We’re going to be okay right?’ she asked.
‘Of course we are, I love you,’ he said. ‘We’re going to be alright.’
‘Thank you,’ she said.
‘For what honey?’
‘For coming into my life.’
‘I could say the same to you; you have certainly changed the way I view the world. I think I already saw it but refused to live it.’
‘You’ve done the same for me.’
They continued to drive in comfortable silence until they reached the house.
‘Can I come in for a bit?’ he asked and she nodded.
They walked to the door, Jasmine unlocked it and they stepped in. She pressed her head against the door and locked it once.
‘It’s okay,’ he said gently, ‘You don’t have to resist it, just be.’ He placed his hand on hers.
Jasmine shut her eyes and unlocked it again and then locked it and that was all she did. There was no urge to do it again or feelings to fight it, it just was. She turned to him and looked into his eyes. It was as if somehow he’d freed her; by allowing her to be herself the anxiety had diminished and in turn she no longer needed to act on impulse.
He lifted her into his arms and took her to the living room. He laid her gently on the floor and looked down at her lovingly.
‘If you want me to stop just say so,’ he said.
‘I don’t want you to stop.’ She drew him close and took his mouth against hers.
Their kiss was passionate and Jasmine let go into it. She allowed his tongue to explore her mouth, she didn’t fight him instead she drew him even closer. Their breathing heightened and quickly Zack pulled off all the clothing she had and reached for his. It was a quick but smooth movement. He reached for his trouser pocket and pulled out a rubber.
‘Do you want to put it on for me?’ he asked slyly.
She nodded and took it from him, ripped the side open and pulled it out. He held onto his thickness and Jasmine rolled it down his thickness. Feeling his thick cock between her fingers sent a buzz through her body. She ran up and down the covered cock slowly but with precision as if she’d been doing it a long time. After a moment he took her hand and brought it to his chest. She ran her hand over him and explored him. Being so close to him was the scariest and the most exciting thing she’d done. There was a point, a split second when she wanted to pull away wanted to stop and he was willing to. But his gracefulness, his willingness to please her, to make her feel comfortable dissolved the fear and opened her up further like a flower ready to blossom.
‘I love you so much!’ she whispered.
‘I love you too.’ He guided her to lay back, parted her legs and ran his hands down her inner thighs. ‘You are so beautiful, so lovely.’ He positioned her so that he could guide his wand directly into her.
It wasn’t long before she took his cock and pushed it into her. It took him by surprise, almost taking him off his game. But as soon as he realised he found his rhythm and gave to her. Kisses passed between them, their hands explored their bare flesh. Jasmine’s hands found his sexy bum and cupped each buttock and pushed him into her until she could feel him at the tip of her g-spot.
He tapped against it over and over sending her into an intense orgasm. How could sex be so lovely and yet so frightening all at the same time? Zack moved their bodies so that they were up straight. Her legs were wrapped around his waist, her bottom firmly on his legs and his cock still deep within the walls of her hole. It was pleasurable; it was thick and as he lifted her off him and pressed her back down on his erection, Jasmine couldn’t help but yelp, let out the loudest sounds of passion.
He stopped a moment and gazed deep into her eyes and as she admired him back he pushed forward and kissed her fully, sparing her no time to take a breath. He pulled back and did the same thing and just as she was captured into the essence of his gaze, he pressed his lips against hers, literary taking her breath away.
He felt the build up, the need to release. He pushed her body back to the ground and was over her ready to devour, ready to take. She kept him close, kept him deep inside her and soon he began to ride her. Forcefully he began to take her like he’d never done before. And she loved it! Jasmine loved the feelin
g that was now deep inside her, the thick friction that lit the fire between her thighs! She loved it!
‘Oh god yes!’ she let out finally and he gave a final hard thud. ‘Oh yes!’
Zack let himself go and felt her body go weak beneath him, shudder like an animal during a kill. It was over, they were spent but there was an air of love and peace between them and they took it in. Took it in lying in each other’s arms and enjoying the moment.

Where had the time gone! Zack opened his eyes not to find her near him at all. He could here the sound of a washing machine coming from the kitchen but nothing else. He pulled on his boxers and made his way upstairs to try and find her. The first checking point was the bathroom and although she wasn’t in there, there was enough evidence to show she had been. The room was still steamy; he could hardly see his handsome face in the mirror. It was warm which showed she’d been in there a while.
He turned to leave and headed for the bedroom. He gently pushed the door opened, a little scared to find what lay behind but all seemed well. Jasmine looked up from her laptop and smiled.
‘Are you okay?’ he asked.
‘I’m fine, I’m fine.’ She said.
‘Are you sure?’
‘Yes, I’ve just managed to make an online booking to see my doctor.’ She felt a little bit of relief.
‘Oh honey that’s amazing, that’s wonderful.’
‘I know, the first step right.’
‘Absolutely.’ He walked over to her and knelt beside her. ‘I’m so proud of you.’
She smiled shyly. They were quiet for a while and Zack wasn’t so sure how he was going to tell her he had to get home.
‘What’s wrong?’ she asked.
‘I’m going to have to go home I’m afraid.’
‘I thought you’d stay the night.’
‘I’d love that but I have an early start tomorrow and I must get home. I haven’t changed since...’
‘It’s okay, I’ll be fine.’ She knew she wouldn’t be but she had to learn to be.
‘I’ll be back later tomorrow after the meeting.’
She nodded.
‘Don’t look so sad,’ he put his hand to her chin and directed her face to him. ‘I will be back, I promise.’ He leaned forward and gave her a kiss.
‘I know,’ she said and she did but she just didn’t feel it.
It took him about twenty minutes to get dressed and say his goodbyes to her. Jasmine watched him at the door as he jumped into his car and drove off. It was going to be a battle and she knew it but she was determined to make it work for her and for him.
Chapter Nine
The lights were on when Zack arrived home. Had he left them on the whole time he’d been away? He couldn’t remember but it didn’t bother him much. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d done that. He put the key into the slot and unlocked the door. He dropped his stuff in the passage, pulled off his shoes, loosened his collar and headed for the kitchen, but just as he was passing the living room he stopped and turned.
‘Hey baby,’ Kimberly’s voice drifted across the room. ‘Did you miss me?’ She held a glass of wine in her hand. ‘I opened a bottle of wine for us.’ She nodded at the wine bottle that had been settled on the glass table.
‘What are you doing here?’ he asked.
‘I’ve come home, I missed you.’
He walked slowly into the living room about to protest when she stood up wearing a very short dress that revealed her long lovely legs.
‘What’s the matter honey?’ She swung her arms around his neck the glass still in her hand. ‘I had time to think and I realised that I made a mistake. You and I are good together.’ She leaned forward and met his lips and for a moment he was lost in her sweet soft lips.
‘I can’t do this.’ He pulled back.
‘Oh honey what’s the matter?’ She walked towards the table and poured him a glass. ‘Here have some.’
He looked at the glass and then at Kimberly. How could she do this now? Just when he’d started to feel so strongly about Jasmine. She nodded at the glass and he took it, the wine was a welcomed relief.
‘Come sit with me, we need to talk.’ She sat down, crossed her legs and patted the space beside her.
He watched her carefully; it was hard not to want her there and then, but instead of sitting right beside her he sat in the seat opposite her.
‘Awww, what’s the matter, still angry I left you?’
‘You could say that, I mean what did you expect that I’d just let you back in? That I’ve been sitting here waiting for you? I moved on too.’
‘Oh, you met someone?’ she asked a little amused.
‘I have so it would be best that you leave.’
She took a sip of the wine and smiled at him. ‘Dump her.’ She kept her smile.
‘Excuse me? Are you out of your mind?’
‘No,’ she said calmly. ‘Are you?’
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’
She smiled at him as she took the wine into her mouth.
‘I don’t have time for this.’ He shifted, put the glass down and stood up.
‘You will,’ she said. ‘You will dump her and you and I can get back together and get married and be the power couple we’ve always wanted to be.’
‘Why the hell would you want that, clearly you left me or have you forgotten that? I thought you didn’t want me, that my sister was too much for you!’
‘That’s not it Zack. Don’t you get it? I have the secret no one knows that will destroy you.’
He gazed at her with rage in his eyes. ‘You wouldn’t!’
‘Oh yes I would.’ She was calm and almost sounded playful. ‘It’s simple, you dump her, we get married and we live happily ever after.’
‘I honesty don’t know why you’re doing this?’
‘Are you serious?’ she threw back her head laughing. ‘We both know how much you’re worth and how –’
‘Is that what this is about? Money? How much do you want, I’ll right you a cheque right now.’
‘Nope, that’s not what I want. I don’t want bits of it, I want to be your wife so I can own all of it or at least half.’ She giggled.
She put down her glass and walked in the direction of the stairs. ‘Are you coming to bed?’ she smiled slyly.
The words felt restricted. The rage within him was almost enough for him to reach for her and strangle her to death.
‘Don’t be too long love.’ She disappeared into the passage.
Zack ran his hands through his hair, all was not well. Not now! How could this be happening now? What had happened had happened a long time ago, she couldn’t do that to him! His thoughts travelled to Jasmine and his heart broke, if he left her now she would truly loose all the progress she’d made. He dropped into the seat and gazed ahead. There had to be a way out of it, there just had to be but he didn’t know how without causing terrible consequences.

There was a positive feeling that flowed through Jasmine. Everything was going to be alright, she had Zack by her side. She felt bits of control return to her the moment she reached out and made the doctors appointment. Everything was going to be alright. She flipped back the covers of the duvet and did it a few more times. Relaxed into bed with a slight smile on her face; she was in love and she knew that all would be perfect!

‘So,’ Charlotte turned to me.
The heat of the spotlight on me unnerved me.
‘Let’s not even go there,’ I interjected.
‘Go where, I haven’t even said anything yet.’
‘Well we all know where this is going.’
‘We need to address the fact.’ Georgina chimed in her two pence worth of wisdom. ‘Time is certainly moving at lighting speed.’
‘You don’t say,’ I said. ‘I thought it was moving at normal pace.’
‘Back to what I wanted to talk about.’ Charlotte fiddled for her mobile phone.
‘Let me guess, you’ve found me another date!’ I rolled my eyes.
‘Well you didn’t do well on the dating site we enrolled you onto.’ She flicked through some pictures.
‘I didn’t ask you to put me on the dam dating site in the first place!’
That had been a shocker! My two best friends in the world had gone behind my back and signed me up to a dating site.
‘We’ve got to get this ball rolling.’ Charlotte didn’t look up from the mobile.
‘Yeah by going on a date with a bunch of men who want nothing but fun times! Or who only text you when they want to get into your freaking pants! Or jerk off! Gees thanks!’
‘Oh sweetie they were just numbnuts! It happens in life you know… before you meet the right one.’ Georgina piped. ‘You have to meet a few frogs before meeting your prince.’
‘You think!’
‘The problem with you Heaths is that you’re too picky, you’ve got to lower the bar a little,’ said Georgina.
‘Is that so? Well as far as I’m concerned I’ve done my part, it’s not my fault if the guy pulls a Houdini on me or an Irish goodbye.’
‘A what now?’ Georgina looked totally perplexed.
‘The faders, they just stop texting, stop calling. I can’t for the life of me understand that behaviour. Why don’t they just say, not interested! Who needs that shit! I mean was that the way it was when you met your Larry?’
